I've been a Realtor for 14 years on the Gulf Coast in Alabama. With the downturn in sales in our area following Hurricane Katrina - I eventually lost my dream home to foreclosure last year. Because of my experiences, I created a website to help others avoid or cope with the same financial distress. I have a "Need Help Page" w/some national assistance information, but concentrate on my local counties of Baldwin and Mobile. My goal is to have a similar "Need Help Page" for every county in the U.S. I am looking for Realtors across the country to be the link for their county and supply the same assistance info - local credit counselors supplied by the government, low cost medical care, mental health care, food banks, Church Dinners, thrift stores, pet foster care/adoptions and much more. We are also planning a "Free Foreclosure Assistance Day" w/volunteers of Attorneys, Accountants, Real Estate Agents, Clergy and more - to give one day to explain the process of foreclosure, bankruptcy and short sale, answer questions and try to give help and solace. I need ideas on how to get the word out about our website and our planned "Free" day. (No Advertising Money!) Help! |

Reply with quote | #2 | Palm Beach County responding! (Need Help Page / RealEstateAgentsArePeople2) .... My name is Jennifer Hyland and I'm a Realtor in the Palm Beaches (FL). We've had our share of disasters here -natural and Madoff made - in the past years. I'll begin gathering a list and links for the resources that are available. Great idea Deborah Benton I can post them on my site, http://www.JenniferandPatti.com and maybe have our local paper add a similar link. Here's to helping our neighbors and friends! Cheers, Jennifer Hyland

Reply with quote | #3 | First, I apologize for the delay in answering your posted message. It took me a few days to realize where the message came from! I'm getting slammed with emails since the local news station did a story on my website: http://www.RealEstateAgentsArePeople2.com. Let's talk - share ideas - help each other. My website sponsored "Free Homeowners' Financial Crisis Day" is scheduled for Saturday, March 14th @the Foley, Alabama Civic Center. The City Council felt the need was so great when I presented my event idea that they donated the Civic Center. I have 3 local Attorneys, an Accountant, Credit Counselors and more donating their time to help the distressed homeowners understand the process of/and their rights when facing foreclosure, bankruptcy and short sale, along with the TAX ramifications. We will have a question and answer period after each subject. The Alabama Governor's office has helped me gather State and Federal Assistance Programs participation - they are sending reps and information - many people have NEVER needed assistance and have no idea where to go. We are also lining up local colleges and tech. schools to bring information on re-education and School Grants. I hope to have a government official appear to explain how the Stimulus Package may help the homeowners. Local merchants are donating food for the event and gifts for door prizes - like gift cards for groceries, etc. My goal is to have the Crisis Day spread across the state and then the country. I want the attendees to leave with information, help and HOPE!
