I wish I had found this site sooner. I have the news on"the today show" and they talked about your segment coming up.....so I'm waiting! I could have told you about my evil, sick neighbor who has tried to get me to move by false accusations of child abuse, code violations, and reporting bogus violations to the Health Department (I run a home childcare business), picture and video taking,to get me to lose my business. Being a widow, I only have this income and she has tried for 7 years to put me out of business and on the street with my family. This is more than an annoyance......its downright EVIL!!! My life has been HELL. |

My mother, a widow has been sued by her neighbor for over 7 years for the use of an easement. Once the final judgment was received and he was allowed use of the easement he began to aggressively destroy her utilities on the easement, build a dock with out permits causing her to be cited by the county, she has attorney fees in excess of $30,000 trying to fight this neighbor. He will not stop at anything to get what he wants. The police have been called 4 times, the water department 6 times and so far nothing has been done. All this in the last 2 months. |

Reply with quote | #5 | Barbara - We saw your piece today (8/21/07) on The Today Show. We are currently looking to buy a home and wanted to add a couple of comments regarding potential problems to avoid in neighborhoods/subdivisions. When we see a swimming pool (in ground or above ground) next to or near a home for sale, we move on. We know there will be noise problems with screaming children or adults have parties at any time of night or day. Also, we avoid lakefront properties where the boating (other than sail boats) and jet skis create havoc throughout the day/night, year round.
Thanks for all the information you provide.

Reply with quote | #6 | Barbara, saw you on the Today show and you were fabulous! My husband and I have seen you on TV before and you made us believe that we can be investors too. So far we have bought 10 houses in the last 14 months and all are rented and doing fantastic. You are an inspiration. We love your website! |

I have a neighbor whose property encircles mine. He has two homes on this property. One is falling down and has a family of large rats living in it. the other house is not in that great shape. He is using the rest of the property as a junk yard, anything from cars to building material. There are always bums out there living in the cars and kids running around stealing things. These bums have even broke down my fence and tried to steal my riding lawnmower. The property is overgrown and there are a lot of dead trees. I had a privacy fence put up so I didn't have to look at the mess. Now the trees are falling down into my yard and onto my fence. the guy who owns this property lives just 6 miles down the road but neither me or my neighbors can get in contact with him We have all called our local zoning board and reported the misuse of he property but nothing has been done. I quess when this mess causes someone to get hurt and it makes it into the headlines maybe something will get done? |

Reply with quote | #8 | You want to know and find out about NASTY neighbors! We have a gorgeous little bungalow in Florida. We am surrounded by trash, LOUD music every evening, open burning fires, beer drinking and other forms of illegal entertainment. The neighbor lady opens the back door and sweeps out (literally) 75/100 can of soda, trash, toys, dirty diapers, papers and anything that apparently is on the floor (this has created cock roaches, rats, alley cats, possum, snakes and you name it surround our premises) This litter falls into the back yard and there it sits. There are grocery carts, folding chairs, exercise equipment, tires and you name it all around the house. Broken windows the kids crawl in and out of. We call the code enforcer, the police officers and they drive by, sometimes say something but claim they cannot do much to help. Beer bottles break all evening, kids from diapers to teens run up and down the street. It is an area that should be condemned or considered a blighted duplexes. These are low poor rental immigrant homes for tomato season, but they have taken over our waterfront properties. We have million dollar homes surrounding this area. Our pictures can tell the story. Tax paying citizens pay an employee to drive around and pick up grocery carts on a daily basis because they are stolen from the surrounding grocery, drug stores and others that are near the downtown area. We live in the heart of downtown. The battle never ends! We have a code, trash cans are to be put away within a 24 hour time frame. I have looked at the same trash can for six years as I overlook the beautiful inter-coastal waters (along with other contraptions on neighborhood properties). There are huge trees continually loosing leaves causing us to loose our yard and creates problems with our gutters. They are old, out of shape and belong to the city. We can't get them to trim or cut them down. We paid $1200 to get them trimmed back 5 years ago and in Fl. it doesn't take long for them to grow. But the dead ones are seem to be used for the "fires" in the open yard (in which this belongs to the city. We have been vandalized, broken windows, every piece of property not glued down has been stolen and "found much of it in the neighbor's yards. Kids admitted to doing it but nothing was done. We couldn't press charges because of fear of retaliation. What is going on with our communities in America! There is less respect and we fear for the unknown! Therefore my clean and well respected neighbors have tried to sell their homes. Our home has been on the market for 14 months (low priced) and not one person will step into it because as soon as they turn the corner they feel fear and see the nasty area on the other side of our clean white fence. My pictures would "gross" you out!
